Child awarded special Christmas surprise

ATLANTA, Ga. -

Gracie Rowe, 6, was selected as a winner for the Henson Mechanical Custom Built Playhouse.

Gracie suffers from Juvenile Idiopathic Systematic Arthritis. This disease prevents her from enjoying activities that children her age take for granted such as simply walking, running, or jumping. It is very painful and not only affects her joints, but her vital organs.

Diagnosed at 14 months, Gracie Lou takes 12 different medications a day and receives infusion therapy of 2 other drugs every 14 days. She can't run, jump, or ride a bike due to the pain. Gracie says her smile hides the fact that she feels bad going to the doctor.

She is currently on hospital home bound care from her school and with Christmas coming up she could use a little Christmas cheer! She had no idea that the custom built playhouse was soon to arrive in her backyard.

A total of four children received the custom playhouses.

FOX 5 was there for the special delivery. Click on the video link above to view this touching story.

You've probably heard of a match-making service that helps people find their soul mates. But you may not know that there's a nonprofit in Atlanta that offers a similar service....for people to find....the perfect pet.
