A 28 year old amateur astrophotographer created what is thought to be the largest composite image ever taken of the night sky. The image is 37,000 separate photographs! If you were to look up in the night sky and were able to look in all directions at the same time, this is what you would see. Much easier to see how spectacular the galaxy really is. He was able to make the composite by trekking some 60,000 miles across the western United States and South Africa starting in March of 2010.
