Author of dating book 'The Manual' on holiday relationships

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM - Romantic relationships can be tricky especially during the holidays.

From how much to spend on your significant other to when to call off the whole thing, we got the low-down from relationship expert and best-selling author of 'The Manual,' Steve Santagati.

"Women always love bad boys. Nice guys always finish last. You don't want a guy without an edge. It's boring. (A bad boy is) unapologetically male. He doesn't pretend to be something he's not. He can change a tire in the rain. He's a guy you can rely on. He's going to make you feel good being naughty," said Santagati.

The relationship expert is not married and says he never will tie the knot.

"It's quality over quantity," said Santagati.

As for gift giving, how much you spend this holiday season depends on how long you've been dating.

"Find out what he's in to. (Give him) something unique."

For the singles out there, Santagati says put your phone down.

"Just look up and say 'hi.' Going to a party? As your friend to bring a friend."
