CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Two women were rescued after a vehicle went off the road and into a frozen pond Monday evening in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.

About 6 p.m., a 35-year-old woman was driving near Avalon and Lindsey lanes when her vehicle left the roadway and stopped on the ice of a frozen pond, authorities said.

Another woman, a 46-year-old "good Samaritan," tried to help the driver get out, according to Bolingbrook police.

When emergency crews arrived, the vehicle had broken through the ice. Both women were taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in Bolingbrook to be treated for hypothermia. They were both listed in "stable" condition, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
