Durbin meets with community leaders to discuss petcoke storage issues

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Senator Dick Durbin and Congresswoman Robin Kelly visited the Far Southeast Side Monday morning to talk with residents and community leaders about petroleum coke—also known as petcoke—a by-product of oil refining.

Petcoke is black dust blowing around refineries coating homes and cars.

Residents have filed a lawsuit claiming local companies are not doing enough to protect them from petcoke pollution.
