EAST LOS ANGELES (FOX11) - Dodgers first-baseman Adrian Gonzalez helped kickoff the holiday season in East LA on Saturday during the city's "East LA on Ice" celebration.

The four-day event started Thursday, Dec. 12 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 15 in a series of family friendly activities free of charge.

The festivities took place at the East LA Civic Center hosted by LA County Supervisor Gloria Molina.

"East L.A. has unique cultural traditions for the holiday season, and we are again thrilled to bring the entire community together to share the joy with their families and friends," said Supervisor Molina in a statement.

"There are few things in life more rewarding than the glee that children feel this time of year, and the opportunity to ice-skate, play in the snow and meet Santa are experiences they will remember for a lifetime."

The holiday event featured an ice-skating rink, a children's play area with real snow, toy giveaway, live music, and Fox 11's own, Laura Diaz
