PennDot Prepping For Third Storm In A Week

Posted: Updated:
QUAKERTOWN, Pa. -

The snow not even melted in Quakertown and Allentown from Tuesday's snowstorm and already the weather authority calling for another pounding this weekend.

The experts predicting Lehigh Valley could get hit hard with at least 6 to 8 inches.

"That's a lot. You've got to be careful when it gets that much," said truck driver Jimmy Herald.

He ought to know the dangers. He's been heading out on the highway for the past 14-years.

His concern, whether the snow plows  can clear the interstates fast enough.

"Usually after three or four inches  they cant keep up because the roads get real
icy."

PennDot trucks have already been out brining the interstates and expressways in the five county region, according officials.

They say 100-thousand tons of salt is available to battle this weekend's expected snowstorm.
Some of that salt will be  loaded onto the  415 trucks officials say are ready to roll across the area at the first snow fall, expected Saturday morning.

"We have to make sure we get out quick, fast and early. Hit the snow and hit it hard because  we want to make sure it doesn't bond to the roadway," explained Nick Martino of PennDot.
