Minneapolis police are investigating the murder of a Somali businessman who was shot early Wednesday morning near the intersection of 26th Street and Pleasant Avenue in the Whittier neighborhood.

Family members told the Star Tribune that 31-year-old Fuad Ali was "living the American dream" as the father of two boys and the owner of two rental properties.

Ali was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound at about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he later died.
