Leslie Frazier announced today that Matt Cassel will be the starting quarterback on Sunday when the Vikings host the Philadelphia Eagles. Frazier stated that Cassel deserved the opportunity to be able to start two games in a row.
When asked how Josh Freeman has been in practice, Frazier commented that he's done everything he can in practice and that the decision to stick with Cassel/Ponder has more to do with what they are doing on the field. (Which if you watch Vikings football isn't much). Frazier went on to say that Freeman is used to being the guy at this level and isn't used to holding a clipboard on Sunday afternoon. I read that as he's not happy in his current role but Frazier being a nice guy isn't going to throw anyone under the bus.
Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart aren't going to practice until Friday at the earliest and Frazier confirmed he is more confident Gerhart will play than the reigning MVP. If neither are able to go, Matt Asiata will get the start.
