417 crashes follow slick Sunday snowfall in Minn.

Posted: Updated:

Since midnight on Sunday, the Minnesota State Patrol responded to more than 400 crashes statewide after fine snowflakes coated roads already covered by ice and sent at least 336 cars sliding off the road.

No serious injuries or deadly crashes were reported, but any motorist in the metro had to contend with slick streets and slow traffic throughout much of the day -- and Monday may not be much better.

Although the snow tapered by the evening hours, it isn't expected to go anywhere -- unless the wind blows it around, that is. With temperatures expected to return to the subzero range overnight and wind chill values dipping down to -25 or -30 through Monday morning, it certainly won't melt.

Although public works crews do plan to work overnight to clear the streets prior to the morning rush hour, drivers are encouraged to head out early and adjust to the road conditions as needed.
