Minnesota snow totals and Twin Cities forecast

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday, with 3 to 7 inches of snow expected in the Twin Cities metro. Two Harbors, Minn. is the early winner statewide, with 28 inches of snow on the ground Wednesday morning.

SNOW TOTALS

Two Harbors: 28.0 in.

Askov: 19.9 in.

Duluth: 16.8 in.

Bruno: 16.8

Moose Lake: 16 in.

Hickley: 15 in.

Cloquet: 8.5 in.

Brainerd: 7.0 in.

Grand Marais: 6.0 in.

Blaine: 4.0 in.

Edina: 2.0 in.

TWIN CITIES SNOW TIMELINE

By lunch, the metro should have about 2 to 4 inches and will pick up an additional 1 to 3 inches as the afternoon marches on. Flakes taper tonight and ultimately, expect 3 to 7 inches total across the metro, 6 to 10 inches in northern Minnesota.

Clouds will break by Thursday afternoon, but cold temperatures slowly fall into the single digits as wind chills stay below 0 degrees. We're set for a quiet but cold stretch into the weekend as highs barely climb above 0.

CRASH STATS

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the following statewide incident statistics from 12 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday:

- 175 crashes (20 with injuries)
- 192 spinouts
- No serious or fatal crashes

The Twin Cities metro accounted for 137 crashes and 137 spinouts; however, the figures from the Minnesota State Patrol only account for highways.

LAKEVILLE STUDENT DIES IN CRASH

A 17-year-old Lakeville North High School student died in a crash during her snowy commute on Wednesday morning. Officials say Alyssa Ettl was about a half a mile from her school when she lost control of her vehicle and was broadsided.

BLOOMINGTON SEMI CRASH

A semi hit a guard rail at I-494 and Normandale Boulevard in Bloomington, Minn. early Wednesday. Diesel fuel was reportedly leaking in the area.

SQUAD HIT

A Minnesota state trooper squad car was reportedly hit by another car at 50th Street and Highway 100 in Edina. The trooper was out of the squad when it was hit and he wasn't hurt.
