Detroit firefighters battle multiple fires Monday night on city's west side

(WJBK) -

Fox 2's Taryn Asher reports five fires broke out in a 10-block radius Monday evening near the area of Schoolcraft Road and Schaefer Highway. Investigators believe a firebug may be going from one vacant house to another, setting them on fire.

All the fires have taken place at an abandoned home and no one has lived in any of the houses set on fire. Fire crews have worked to get them all under control so none of the fires have spread, Asher reports.

So far no pattern has been detected. Asher reports two of the fires are on Sorrento Street and Hartwell Avenue.
