Vikings-Bears tweets from the tie that could have been

Posted: Updated:

Well, there's not much left to say about the Minnesota Vikings' victory over the Chicago Bears other than, hooray, running back Adrian Peterson heroically passed the 10,000-yard mark.

Peterson ran for 211 yards in a 23-20 overtime win at the Metrodome, making him the 28th player in NFL history to exceed that coveted 10,000 yards.

Meanwhile, somewhere, Rhett Ellison is having a more terrible day than you.

Here's a few of the best tweets as the game that waffled back and forth so many times that Vikings fans seriously expected they'd be renaming their team the "Tiekings."

SB Nation
‏@sbnation Minnesota thought they had the game-winning field goal, started setting off the fireworks, and then… um… face mask. Put the fireworks back!

Dan Cole ‏
@CommonManKFAN Rhett Ellison may have just delivered Teddy Bridgewater to Minnesota....

Paul Charchian ‏
@PaulCharchian Chicago-Minnesota. A steadfast refusal to win.

@espn The Vikings and Bears. The game that will not end.

Doug ErlienFOX9
@DougErlien Bears fan chanting "Vikings suck", no response from Vikings fans except "yeah we know"

SB Nation
‏@sbnation The Vikings made us look it up: no team has ever been on a tie streak. Tying streak? Whatever a winning/losing streak is for ties.

Jemele Hill
@jemelehill Minnesota and Chicago just trolling America with their ineptitude.

Keith Leventhal‏
@KeithLeventhal I'll mention this again. Last time a team had 2 ties in a season - 1973 Last time a team had back-to-back ties - 1971 (OAK) #Vikings

Chris Kluwe
@ChrisWarcraft Give it to AP three times, kick the field goal and go home.

SB Nation
‏@sbnation And the answer is no, Minnesota didn't have back-up fireworks. And they just won, so there is no tie streak. Bummers all around.

FOX Sports Live ‏
@FOXSportsLive Back to back ties would have been cooler.
