CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two men were killed and at least 14 other people have been wounded in shootings since the Thanksgiving weekend began Wednesday night.

Sherod Nesbitt, 24, was found lying on the ground in the 11100 block of South Vernon Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to the head just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday night, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Nesbitt, of the 11100 block of South Longwood Drive, was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

On Saturday afternoon, Gentiles Williamson, 27, died after he was shot three times in the chest less than a block from his Garfield Park home, authorities said.

Two men, believed to be between 18 and 20 years old, approached him about 12:37 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Arthington Street, at which point one of them shot him in the chest, police said. The suspects then fled on foot before getting into a gray vehicle and fleeing east on Arthington.

Williamson was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 1:07 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

The most recent non-fatal shooting happened early Monday when a male and female walked into a South Shore convenience store in the 2600 block of East 79th Street and the male pulled out a handgun and opened fire about 12:10 a.m., police said.

The two suspects fled the store after the shooting, police said.

A 24-year-old man was shot in both thighs and once in the abdomen and taken in "stable" condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. It was not immediately clear if he was an employee or customer at the store.

Officers were seen investigating at In & Out Food Cellular and Cafe.
