Minneapolis unveils new snow emergency app

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

The city of Minneapolis will have a better way to tackle snow emergencies this winter.

The new Snow Emergency mobile app will show drivers whether a snow emergency is in effect and where they can and cannot park to avoid a ticket and tow.

The app also has a "quick call" button that connects users to the Minneapolis Snow Emergency Hotline, and buttons to sign up for email/text alerts.

The app is available for both Apple and Android devices.

Minneapolis has ordinances that govern on-street parking in the winter to ensure plowing crews can clear snow from city streets. The ordinances apply before, during and after heavy snowfalls and when snow has accumulated after several snowfalls.
