A fire broke out amid construction at Macy's department store in Ridgedale Mall in Minnetonka, Minn. late Tuesday morning.
The fire began behind a wall and damaged a roof where Macy's is undergoing construction near the women's department, a city of Minnetonka spokesman said.
Macy's and the adjoined Lakeshore Grill were evacuated, but the rest of the mall remained open. No injuries were reported, Minnetonka police confirmed. No merchandise was damaged.
The weather proved to be a challenge for fire crews who had to be swapped out frequently as they tended to the fire. The fire was also difficult to reach -- crews had to cut through walls in order to contain it.
Crews worked to control the flames around 10:45 a.m. but the fire was under control just after 12 p.m. The cause of the fire is unknown. Macy's is expected to reopen later today and Black Friday shopping won't be impacted.
