LA Food Bank Kicks-Off Holiday Season with Massive Food Drive

Posted: Updated:

LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank kicked off the holiday season this weekend with one of its largest food drives of the year.

The 16th annual "Film Freak Thanksgiving Food Drive" kicked off Friday morning at grocery retailer Smart & Final in West Los Angeles and ran through Sunday afternoon.

Hosted by local radio personality, Leo Quinones, the three day event was expected to raise 50,000 pounds of food for families in need in the Los Angeles area.

"This fundraiser has become one of the biggest food drives supporting the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and has become a very personal mission to me," said Quinones. "With recent food program cutbacks by the government, it is more critical than ever that every person who can do so lends a hand.  Every donation, big and small, helps."
