At least we are getting used to the cold gradually, as we have already seen a few brief shots of winter chill. Arriving just in time for the weekend , our latest Arctic blast will be the coldest yet. We haven't had highs in the teens and lows in the single digits since February 19th, just over 9 months ago.

Here is the weather map from Friday evening. You can see a line of snow showers ahead of the front. The combination of the area of low pressure to our northeast, and the high pressure to our North, will usher in the cold over the upcoming weekend.

It's far from average. Minnesotans will experience highs and lows more than 20 degrees below average. However, this is not the coldest for this weekend. The record minimum high temperature for Saturday is 7° and the record low for Sunday morning is -10°. So it has been colder.

It won't be the windiest of days, but with temps in the teens, it doesn't take much of a breeze to drive down the "Feel Like" temperatures. Below is a graph that shows those brutal wind chill values for your Saturday.

This "Arctic Blast" won't be prolonged. The area of high pressure responsible for the cold will move to our East by later Sunday. This will allow for southerly winds on the back side of it to warm us up back to average. Stay warm everyone.
