Del. State Police Seek Help IDing Credit Card Fraud Suspects

Posted: Updated:
LEWES, Del. -

The Delaware State Police is asking for the public's assistance in attempting to identify two male subjects who are using fraudulent credit cards to purchase money cards at local supermarkets.

Within the last month, according to police, two subjects are alleged to be manufacturing credit cards over the computer by using information from previously skimmed or stolen credit cards.

According to investigators, the suspects take these fraudulent cards to local supermarkets in the Lewes and Long Neck areas of Delaware and purchase legitimate money cards. To prevent cashiers from physically checking the fake cards, the suspects use the counter card reader. The purchases normally amount to as much as $400.00, say investigators.

The victims, whose information is attached to the fake ones, are then contacted by their credit card companies inquiring into the purchases and alerting them to the discrepancies. These cards are then deactivated.

If anyone has any information on these incidents or the suspects, they are asked to contact Sgt. Charles Groce at 302-856-5850 ext. 207.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
