DETROIT (AP) -- Utilities in Michigan say about 90,000 homes and businesses are without power following a damaging Midwestern storm.

DTE Energy Co., CMS Energy Corp.'s Consumers Energy unit and other utilities say more than 640,000 Michigan customers lost service since the storms hit Sunday.

Meanwhile, the American Red Cross of West Michigan is closing three of seven shelters Wednesday.

DTE said Wednesday about 43,000 southeastern Michigan customers remained without power out of about 302,000 affected. Consumers says about 41,900 of its customers are without power out of about 296,000 affected.
