MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

An amazing streak came to an end Sunday as the University of Minnesota women's hockey team lost their first game in nearly two years.

The Gophers won an NCAA-record 62 straight games before losing to North Dakota – coincidentally the last team to beat Minnesota.

THE NUMBERS: GOPHERS WINNING STREAK

- 62 games without a defeat.

- 2 national championships during the run

- 640 days since last defeat

- 2/17/12 date of last loss

Minnesota was trailing 3-0 Sunday afternoon, but couldn't complete the comeback after closing the gap to 3-2 late in the game.

"We're not sad because it's over, we're happy because we were part of it," Gophers coach Brad Frost said. "I'll tip my hat to anyone who can go 62 or 63 games without a loss."
