Woman, 76, dies after South Chicago fire

A woman died after her home caught fire late Friday in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Firefighters responded to the blaze about 11:40 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Oglesby Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

Janice Harley, 76, suffered injuries from the fire in her home and was taken to South Shore Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:27 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Additional details were not immediately available early Sunday as the Chicago Fire Department could not be reached for comment.
