The Benton County sheriff's office responded to a report of a person falling through thin ice yesterday morning on Little Rock Lake in Watab Township.
The caller reported seeing a person in the water near Erdmann's Point, next to some ice about 150 to 200 yards from shore.
By the time the first responders had the equipment to rescue the victim, he had become submerged below the water. At 12:20 p.m. the rescuers located the victim in about 10 feet of water.
Sartell, Minn. man Joshua Johnson, 30, was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital where he is currently in critical condition. Deputies believe he was ice fishing prior to falling through the thin ice.
The public is advised to stay off of any form of ice in some areas as it has not been cold enough to make the ice safe for travel.
