Chicago's Most Wanted: Evanston bank robber

Posted: Updated:

This bank robber seems to strike once a month. He started in September, robbed again in October and now may be planning his next holdup.

The FBI says he committed his first robbery on September 6th, 2013 at the Chase Bank branch at 901 Grove Street in Evanston, and then robbed the TCF Bank branch at 5343 North Broadway in Chicago on October 2nd.

Both were what's called non-takeover robberies. The man walked into each bank wearing a black hat and dark sunglasses, and was carrying either a backpack or what appeared to be a messenger-style bag over his shoulder. He approached the teller window, announced the robbery by way of a note and demanded money. He never displayed a weapon, but he implied that he had one.

The robber seemed to have some a health or surgical mask around his neck and had some sort of white apron sticking out below his jacket. FBI agents are not sure what significance those items might have. He did not use the mask to conceal his face. It's possible he works in some sort of food preparation job or in a health care setting, but it could also be something he deliberately wore to throw people off. So while the mask and apron could be important clues to his identity, agents don't want to limit the tips people provide.

Bank robbers often will operate in places they are familiar with, so it's possible he may live on Chicago's North side or nearby

suburbs. But the FBI is not limiting its search.

The FBI is offering a reward for information that helps it identify and arrest this robber.

Here is the FBI's description of the robber:

--Hispanic Male

--About 5' 8"

--Medium to stocky build

--Wore a black hat and black sunglasses

--Wore a surgical-type mask that was pulled down and was hanging around his neck

He is considered a danger to the community, if you see him you are asked to call police or the FBI.
