Tanker On Fire In Trevose

TREVOSE, Pa. -

Fire crews were on the scene of a tanker caught on fire in Trevose, PA.

The front cab of the tanker caught on fire on Wednesday at around 9:30am on Old Lincoln Highway & Rt. 1.

Fire crews were dispatched to northbound route 1 near Street Road in Bensalem Township where a tanker truck on fire was carrying 7500 gallons of diesel fuel.

The truck was pulled off the side of the road after the driver noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Some flames did impinge upon the tanker but did not rupture the tanker.

Two stores and a used car lot had been evacuated during the incident.

Chief Battalion Ron Sponheimer said the fire was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported from this accident.
