NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio's transition website has only two updates: one announcing its creation and another thanking people for their input.

Behind the scenes, sources say several groups are pushing their candidate to be the next police commissioner. Some political operatives want Bill Bratton for the perception of crime fighting. Bratton engineered the first big drop in crime in New York City 20 years ago.

African Americans are pushing for Philip Banks III, the respected No. 3 in the department.

Latinos have been publicly pushing for the No. 2 in the NYPD: First Deputy Commissioner Rafael Pineiro, who, like Ray Kelly, rose form street cop to the top levels of the department.

Several women's organizations have been pushing for Chief Joanne Jaffee, who heads the Housing Bureau of the NYPD. She began as a street cop in Brooklyn 34 years ago. Another name recently heard is Charles Ramsey, the 63-year-old commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department.

So far, only Bratton has had a lengthy meeting with de Blasio, who is known to take a long time vetting candidates. An influential member of the department said that whomever de Blasio picks as his police commissioner, he must choose soon -- at least before Thanksgiving -- because the new commissioner will need time to put together his or her team to head the NYPD.

Several names have been proposed by prominent Democrats for other positions in de Blasio's administration. Outgoing Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has been mentioned as the next parks commissioner. John Doherty could to stay on as sanitation commissioner. If he stays, de Blasion would be the third mayor he serves under.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.

Cops stopped garner for the minor offense of selling loose cigarettes in Staten Island. Officers had been enforcing the so-called broken windows policy.
