TEMPE, Ariz. -

Main Event in Tempe officially opens its doors Tuesday morning.  It has everything you'd expect all under one roof: arcade games, air hockey, laser tag and the main attraction here is a 26-lane state of the art bowling alley.

CEO Charlie Keegan says the idea is for everyone in the family to have fun.. At the same place.

"There's very seldom a veto vote when you go -- let's say go bowling.  Everybody can go bowling.  So bowling is the core, everybody can go bowling -- but they stay for other activities."

FOX 10 got a look inside the 50,000 square foot family entertainment center and that meant we had the entire place all to ourselves.

Not only did they let us help break in the new lanes, we got to try out another of the unique activities here, such as the Gravity Course -- a rope climbing challenge about 15 feet off the ground.

Once I had on my safety harness, it was time to check it out.

If you've ever wanted to be a member of the famous Wallenda high-wire walking act, this is about as close as you're going to get. The nice thing is you have a harness overhead to keep you safe -- and in my case I'm glad I do.

"It's very safe -- you clip when you get harnessed, when you are on the ground -- and then you can't become unharnessed until you come back to the ground," said Keegan.

It's the first Main Event outside Texas where the company started 15 years ago, but Keegan is confident it will draw big crowds.

"In Texas, we do very well in the summer when it's hot and it drives people indoors -- and we hope to have the same sort of success here."

There's a ribbon cutting Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Tempe's mayor doing the honors, and then the doors are open seven days a week.
