Billy Crystal donates $1 million to Long Beach

Posted: Updated:

When Superstorm Sandy devastated Long Beach last year, Billy Crystal came to the rescue for his hometown and donated $1 million dollars to help the recovery efforts.

He joined Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman and City Council President Scott J. Mandel on Sunday, along with other City officials in Long Beach  for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of their new Dream Courts located at the Long Beach Recreation Center.

In June 2013, Nancy met up with actor and entertainer Billy Crystal in their hometown Long Beach, NY where they announced the plans to build a sixth DreamCourt in the community.

This decision was part of Crystal's one million dollar donation to the area to help it recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. With the DreamCourts program, Nancy Lieberman has fulfilled her dream of collaborating with WorldVentures Foundation to build high-quality basketball courts with the mission to provide a healthy, physical, emotional and mental environment for young girls and boys to build their self-esteem and confidence so they will be able to make the right choices in the future.
