Maybe Richard Pitino's got something. Continuous full court pressure and completely wear a team down. It worked in the first half of their 81-62 win over Lehigh.
"Our defense in the first half was phenomenal and they're a good offensive team," Pitino said. Our guys were really locked in to that. We did a good job of taking them out of what they needed to do."
The Gophers were in lockdown mode much of the night and held Lehigh to just 18 points in the first half. Elliot Eliason had 11 points and 17 rebounds in the win, and Joey King led the way with 20 points.
"To see Elliott Eliason get 17 rebounds in 28 minutes of play is phenomenal. He's playing really well. He works extremely hard and plays extremely hard every single day and he's carrying us right now, so he helped up us a lot. I thought we played with really good energy," Pitino said. "They're a good team and he's a great coach and it was a good first win."
The Gophers continue their non-conference schedule next Tuesday night when the play host to Montana.
