Minnesota has suddenly become a hot bed of talent with what most have dubbed the big three in Tyus Jones, Rashad Vaughn and Reid Travis. Vaughn left Minnesota to play at Findlay Prep school in Nevada for his senior season leaving Travis and Jones to carry the torch for hoops in the state.
Travis made his decision Friday afternoon selecting Stanford after reports earlier in the week had his choices to the Cardinal and the University of Minnesota.
"This is the toughest decision I have ever had to make in my life," Travis told a room packed with friends, family and media. "This is what we came for right? I feel Stanford University is the best option for me to start the next chapter of my life."
Travis told media after the announcement that he loved the University of Minnesota and new head coach Richard Pitino but that his decision was based on the comfort he felt in the entire process with Stanford. It was that "playing from behind" in the recruiting game that seemingly cost the Gophers.
Experts talked openly about Travis being the most likely of the three to stay home leaving doubt whether Minnesota will land any.
