Caught On Video: Armed Robbers Take Over Main Line Bank

Posted: Updated:
LOWER MERION, Pa. -

Robbers storm their way into a busy bank on the Main Line. And what they are caught on camera doing inside is nothing short of a nightmare.

Police are now looking for the three gun-wielding suspects who hit the Wells Fargo Bank in Bala Cynwyd late Monday morning each.

Surveillance video shows employees and customers hitting the floor as the suspects rushed inside the bank branch on the 300 block of Levering Mill Road.

Police say one of the subjects jumped over the counter while the other two stayed in the lobby area. The men robbed three tellers of an unspecified amount of cash and demanded the cell phones of the employees and customers in the bank, according to police.

The surveillance is captured from multiple angles, and it shows what was clearly a terrifying ordeal. At one point, a customer crawls toward a cubicle, only to find a robber standing on the desk and pointing a gun. Others emerge from offices with their hands in the air.

After obtaining some of the cell phones and the cash, the three robbers fled the bank out the rear door.

Police described all three subjects as black males wearing ski masks that covered most of their faces. No further description was immediately available.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Lower Merion Police Department at 610-649-1000.
