7 things to do in the yard before the snow flies

Posted: Updated:

In Minnesota, we want to see our plants last as long as possible, but this usually leaves us in a panic to do a few days' worth of work in a few hours before an impending snow storm.

Dale K. shows you easy ways to prepare your garden for winter in a pinch before the snow flies.

1. Put some compost back into your flower beds and vegetable gardens to replace soil's nutrients

2. Spread Rabbit Scram over your garden after each snowfall to keep bunnies at bay

3. Use a garden twine or ribbon to tie up your collapsing branches

4. Place shrub jackets or burlap to protect your evergreens

5. Disconnect hose

6. Blow sprinkler irrigation

7. Empty fuel out of your lawn mower
