Minneapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened inside Epic nightclub early Sunday morning.
Police responded to reports of a shooting inside the club at 110 5th Street N. around 1 a.m. and found a man lying on the sidewalk upon arrival.
The medical examiner's office has not released the identity of the victim, but Fox 9 learned he does have an extensive criminal record and police said his friends are not cooperating with the investigation.
Sources said the victim was part of an argument in the VIP area when the gunman walked up and fired multiple shots.
Bouncers reportedly dragged the victim out to the sidewalk, where he died several minutes before police arrived.
No arrests have been made.
It's unclear whether or not Epic had metal detectors in use as it sometimes does. Regardless, Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau said her officers were not surprised the Yo Gotti performance at Epic brought this type of violence.
Harteau walked the streets Sunday and spoke with nervous club owners, reassuring them of a more visible police presence in downtown Minneapolis after this shooting. She said violence will not be tolerated in her city and safety is her number one priority.
