Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11/CNS) - There will be high police visibility at the Los Angeles International Airport throughout the weekend in response to a Friday shooting attack where a man with an assault rifle shot his way through a checkpoint killing a federal security agent and wounding at least three men, officials said today.

The "enhanced deployment" will include additional resources from the Los Angeles Police Department as well as federal air marshals, said Los Angeles Airport Police Chief Patrick Gannon during a 1 p.m. news conference in the parking lot of the Los Angeles World Airports' Administration Building.

"We'll keep it (the enhanced deployment) going as long as we think it's necessary," Gannon said. "Our approach to security here is layered. We have a number of different ways to keep this airport safe."

During the news conference, LAWA  Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey announced that Terminal 3 had reopened. She also said that most of the terminals are reporting normal operations, "just very, very busy."

Lindsey reported that there have been 30 cancellations at the airport and said that JetBlue, operating at Long Beach Airport, is expected to return to LAX this evening.

The reported gunman, Paul Anthony Ciancia, walked into Terminal 3 around 9:20 a.m. Friday, pulled out an assault rifle -- believed to be an AR-15 assault rifle - and began shooting, said Patrick Gannon, chief of the Airport Police Department.

"He proceeded up into the screening area where TSA screeners are and continued shooting," Gannon said, adding that the gunman "went past the screeners and back into the terminal itself."

He said airport police pursued the suspect, who was shot and taken into custody inside the terminal.

During the news conference, City Councilman Mike Bonin called the airport police officers' response to the shooting "textbook," saving "untold lives."

The FBI is expected to release more details of their investigation at a 4 p.m. news conference in Westwood.

It's no secret that Microsoft has struggled in the hardware department so I can't say whether the Surface Pro 3 will be the hero Microsoft needs but I can say it is the modern computing experience users deserve. I love it and think you should too! Read on to find out why.
