Students hailed as heroes for actions after crash

Posted: Updated:

Four drivers are thankful for the actions of some brave high school heroes.

Johns Creek High School seniors Jesse Dawson, Austin Agerton, Chris Woods, Duncan Hensley were headed to their school's football take on South Forsyth on Oct. 25 when they witnessed a violent car crash on Highway 141.

"I looked up and I immediately see the black car spinning," Dawson said.

Woods said, "I see everything start to fly and I say 'Austin, you got to stop the car.'"

Agerton said Woods was ready to spring into action.

"Chris, if I didn't stop, he would've jumped out of the car. He was ready to help them," Agerton said.

Split up between the two crashed cars, the teenagers helped calm and stabilize the victims until an ambulance came.

They don't think of themselves as heroes; they said they are just kids who did the right thing.

"Now it's everything I can possibly do.  I realize I need to help out in every possibly situation," Dawson said.

They said they're just thankful they could help.

"Really, our mantra from that night on was: everything happens for a reason," said Dawson.

Two of the teenagers in the car credit their Boy Scout experience with preparing them to act in this type of situation.

None of the people in that crash were seriously injured.
