ATLANTA -

A fatal shooting at Los Angeles International Airport had a minimal effect at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday.

A TSA employee was killed and several others were wounded after a gunman opened fire at the Los Angeles airport around 9:30 a.m.

Police identified the gunman as Paul Ciancia, 23, of Pennsville, N.J.  He was apprehended.

Some passengers coming into Atlanta from L.A. said it was a day they won't forget.

"They closed the whole airport down. They grounded the flights, nobody can go in or out. We were lucky to get out," said Jessica Jeffers.

Atlanta police officers has an increased presence around Atlanta's airport. An airport spokesperson told FOX 5's Portia Bruner that the extra officers were there to let passengers feel comfortable.

A Southwest Airlines flight from LAX to Atlanta had been cancelled, but no other flights seemed impacted Friday night.

Anyone planning on traveling who might have questions about their flight is asked to contact their carrier.
