It's a special place in the heart of Dinkytown where people come to restore their personal comfort during concerts and special events. And because of the one-of-a-kind experience it provides anyone who stops by it's in the running to become the nation's best restroom

"I'm tickled pink and makes me want to go to the potty," said Jason McLean, owner of the Varsity Theater.

McLean is elated his co-ed, custom-design restroom is in the running to be named America's Best Restroom by Cintas.
Now considered a porcelain pioneer, McLean and his managers are gaining recognition for the fancy potty space and its special features. A co-ed lounge, bar access, clear view of the stage, custom foot pedal-operated sinks with showerhead faucets and special brick work.
"I would go find the stone, and the bricks and the marble and the found objects out by the river and bring them up here," McLean said.

It took McLean and a special team of masons 6 months and a clear artistic method to lay down the special brick configurations.
"If you pay this much attention to your restroom you're paying just as much if not more attention to the venue space," manager Shayna Melgaard said.
"It's interesting and adds to the overall vibe at the Varsity Theater," Melyssa Sanzone said. "Worthy of absolutely two, three four five national awards, an international award perhaps, take a look around."
Mama always said you can tell a lot about a person by the way they keep their bathroom, and to McLean, that same rule applies at the Varsity Theater. Whether he wins the award or not, it's about the statement and social experience he can provide all his patrons.
"It's a good place to come together, and gather and do the good clean work of washing your hands," McLean said.
The winner of Cintas' American Best Restroom Contest will be announced in the middle of November.
