Bullet found near pool used by St.Charles students

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A St. Charles East High School student found a small-caliber bullet Thursday in a northwest suburban recreation center used by students, the Aurora Beacon-News is reporting.

The ammunition was found in the pool changing area of the Norris Recreation Center, located at 1050 Dunham Road in St. Charles, which is used by both members of the public and students.

The student immediately turned over the bullet to a staff member, St. Charles police said in a news release.

St. Charles East High School staff and St. Charles police investigated the incident, according to a message sent to district parents, and they determined there was no threat to students or staff.

Police said they conduced a thorough search of the area and did not find any other bullets or weapons.

St. Charles police were present during the high school's Thursday dismissal as an added precaution.

Classes will be held at St. Charles East High as normally scheduled on Friday.
