Lawsuit Filed In Society Hill Wedding Brawl

Posted: Updated:

Remember this? It's crazy video that made national headlines showing a bridal party brawl at the Sheraton Society Hill.

It happened a little more than a year ago, and now somebody's filed a lawsuit.

FOX 29's Jeff Cole reports the suit's being filed by the family of a man who died that night.

Vince Sannuti's lawyer said he died of a heart attack while trying to get his loved ones safely out of the hotel.

More than 100 people started throwing punches that night when a fight erupted between two different wedding parties.

Sannuti was also at the Sheraton Society Hill but was not a part of either of those weddings.

His family's lawsuit is aimed mainly at the Sheraton, saying there was inadequate security that night and that employees served too much alcohol to patrons.

Attorney Ken Rothweiler said, "You can't over-serve, you can't keep serving. It's one of the reasons why they did it at sporting events, like Lincoln Financial (Field), they stopped serving I believe after like the third quarter. And there's a reason for that, because they don't want the patrons to get intoxicated, because when people get intoxicated things like fights occur."

One person was arrested in connection with the brawl. He is not listed in the lawsuit.

We contacted the Sheraton Society Hill, they said they're aware of the lawsuit but cannot comment on it.
