Shakopee police have arrested two men in connection with a fatal shooting and alleged robbery in a Shakopee home last week.
Police arrested 21-year-old Anthony James Cox, of Minneapolis, and 36-year-old Brooks Ellery Kurr, of Annandale, Minn. Investigators believe Cox was the gunman. He is currently being held in the Scout County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
Kurr is also in the Scott county Jail on a charge of aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
Police discovered the body of 23-year-old Aaron James Moran, of Shakopee, after responding to a report of armed robbery in the 800 block of Prairie Street on Oct. 22.
Robbery appears to be the motive behind the homicide, but police also say that Moran knew at least one of the two men arrested.
Investigators are not seeking any other suspects in connection with the shooting, but they still urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Shakopee Police Department at 952-233-9400. Those who wish to remain anonymous can do so by submitting tips online or sending a text with the word "spdtips" and the tip information to 847411.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Shakopee Police Department plan to continue investigating the shooting even though the case has been turned over to the Scott County Attorney's Office for charging.
