CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -

A Cherokee County man caught a thief stealing his food and decided to take some pictures as evidence.  Ron Kulesa spotted a small bear getting dining off his bird feeder on Sunday.

He tells FOX 5 News that he has been wondering why the feeder kept getting knocked down, and finally caught the suspect red-handed.

The photos show the bear bending the pole over and taking the whole feeder off before partaking in its contents.  Kulesa's home is in a more rural area of the county near Holly Springs.

FOX 5 has received numerous photos from viewers showing the furry animals wandering in streets, backyards and, of course, trees.

Experts say an acorn shortage could be to blame. Officials with the Department of Natural Resources say large amounts of rain from this spring and summer have stunted the growth of acorns in north Georgia, sending bears down from the mountains into the suburbs scavenging for food.

Wildlife officials warn residents: DO NOT get close to the bears.

If you do happen to have any bear pictures, post them on the FOX 5 Facebook page. You can also upload them here. Remember, do NOT put yourself in danger to take pictures of bears.
