Airman Surprises Daughter In Class

Posted: Updated:

A 4th grade class was under the impression that camera crews were in their classroom to work on a documentary.

Secretly down the hall, a U.S. Airman was planning an emotional surprise.

Ashlyn Altobello hasn't seen her dad in 9 months, a U.S. air force pilot now back from his 2nd deployment in the Middle East.

"Well I'm gonna do my best to look cool," U.S. Airman Richard Altobello said.

The teacher tells Ashlyn that there is a package for her at the school. It's her father with a big bear hug, tears, and flowers.

"I'm very excited and very happy," Ashlyn said. "I know it's important, very important to the USA and my dad just has to go when he has to go."

"Seeing the range of emotions on her face go from surprise to happy to crying all in about a third of a second…priceless. Something I'll remember for the rest of my life," Richard said.

For now while the dad and daughter make good on an early dismissal from school we have to agree the term, priceless is more than fitting. It's also worth another look.
