FRIDAY LUNAR ECLISPE: Visible, Weather Permitting

A lot of clouds are in the weekend forecast, but there is a chance that the skies my just be clear enough to see a partial lunar eclipse this Friday Evening, 10-18-2013 to be exact.

There are several factors that come into play. First, will it be clear enough? The answer to that is maybe. There is a chance of showers later Friday evening, but there is also a good chance of partly cloudy skies until that late evening shower chance. Also, the eclipse will be in progress before the moon rises, but at least it will be up for 38 minutes up to peak. Below is a map of the world, and as you can see, the Upper Midwest is in the viewing cone.

Below are graphics of what the moon will look like at peak eclipse and a timeline for viewing it here in the Upper Midwest. Go out, hope for parting clouds, and look EAST!

Good luck everyone. Don't worry if its cloudy on Friday. I did not waste my time writing this as there is a long, long baseball game on right now and we don't go on until that is over. I just wanted our great viewers to have the information, just in case. Happy sky watching.
