7 ways to carve, adorn and pamper your fall pumpkins

Posted: Updated:

Believe it or not, your pumpkins crave a little TLC as they're being carved and showcased. Lifestyle expert Ross Sveback shows you a few ways to prepare your pumpkins for a beautiful Halloween display.

1. Gut your pumpkin from the bottom

2. Mix 4 C water and one tablespoon of bleach, spray the inside and carved parts, let sit for one hour to kill mold spores

3. Rub Vaseline on exposed parts and on the inside of the pumpkin to seal and moisturize it, stopping new mold spores from entering the pumpkin

4. Keep your pumpkin out of direct sunlight

5. Try a ‘Funkin' – it's a fake pumpkin that allows you to carve an elaborate display and store for next year. They're available at JoAnn Fabrics, but be sure to use a fake candle inside

6. Use painter's tape to create a pattern and spray paint a design of your choice

7. Make a punk rock pumpkin by gluing on spikes and gems
