Child found alone at apartments returned to family

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

A judge has ruled that a 3-year-old boy found wandering in an Atlanta apartment complex alone can return home to his mother.

Gwendolyn Harris found 3-year-old Márquez Williams walking around in the Store Creek apartments around 3 a.m. on Saturday.

The child's mother, Adrianna Neal, said that she left her son with a friend's roommate.  The supervision mix-up left the child lost and alone. Police were called and Márquez ended up in Department of Family and Children Services custody.

Since that time, Neal has fought to get her son back.

A juvenile court judge heard the case on Tuesday and returned the child to his family, saying his home is not unsafe. The court ordered Neal to have a child care plan in place from this point forward.
