ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

Despite having issues due to the federal government shutdown, family members were able to establish a benefit fund for St. Paul hit-and-run victim Wade Souster.

Individuals may donate to the Wade Souster Benefit Fund by cash or check. Checks should be payable to The Wade Souster Benefit Fund. Donations will be accepted in-person at all St. Paul Federal Credit Union branches. Donations can also be mailed to:

The Wade Souster Benefit Fund
St. Paul Federal Credit Union
1330 Conway Street, Suite 200
St. Paul, MN 55106

Souster often takes late-night walks and was just a couple blocks from home when someone in a dark car hit him early Thursday morning, Oct. 3, while he crossed an intersection just south of Lake Phalen. He was found 10 to 15 feet from the crosswalk just before 4 a.m., but investigators could not find enough evidence to determine what type of vehicle to hunt for.

The Downtowner Car Wash, where Souster works, is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case, and they had been collecting donations while the family worked to set up the benefit fund.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call St. Paul police at 651-266-5722 with the tip.
