Minnesota fried chicken fans reveled Thursday morning in the birth of two new Twin Cities Chick-fil-A establishments.
Two establishments are opening at 11820 Fountains Way in Maple Grove and 3590 River Rapids Drive NW in Coon Rapids. Apple Valley and Bloomington restaurants are expected to launch Nov. 7.
Fans of the chain waited in line all night in Maple Grove -- the first 100 guests receiving free meals for a year. Luckily for them, it has been unseasonably warm this October.
Minnesotans didn't comprise the entire Maple Grove crowd. Allen Kline from St. Joseph, Mo. made his way north and celebrated his 11th time being first in line at a Chick-fil-A grand opening ceremony.
Chick-fil-A is a fast food staple, particularly in southern states -- almost everything on the menu is some derivative of a chicken sandwich, but salads have also arrived on the scene, and customers can choose the chicken with which they'd like to adorn their greens.
Two other Minnesota Chick-fil-A locations exist, one on the University of Minnesota campus and the other at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
