US Debt Limit Deadline Just 10 Days Away

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The government shutdown is now in its 7th day and there is no end in sight. And now there's another issue looming.

The battle still centers on funding the government without delaying or de funding Obamacare. But now, the nation's debt limit is making the fight more complicated.

In 10 days, October 17th, the United States can't borrow money and would soon be unable pay all of its bills, unless congress increases the debt ceiling.

Among the problems that would result, people on social security wouldn't get their checks.

House speaker John Boehner has ruled out a bill to raise the nation's borrowing limit without concessions from democrats.

Since the government shutdown started, some services have come back online. To find out if something you need is affected, head to our survival guide.

Despite the shutdown, the Supreme Court justices began their new term Monday morning.

They turned away hundreds of appeals, including Virginia's bid to revive its anti-sodomy law.  Chief Justice John Roberts formally opened the new term without any reference to the partisan standoff over the budget and the new health care law that his vote helped uphold in 2012.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
