Son Excused From School For 'Red Sox Fever'

NAHANT, Mass. -

A Massachusetts boy gets excused from school after his mom tells his teacher he had "Red Sox Fever."

Brian Thompson-Mckinnon's mother, Kerri, wrote the playful letter. She said the only cure for the Red Sox Fever was a visit to Fenway Park.

She also added, "Please note if they lose today and tomorrow please expect grumpy child syndrome to be present on Monday."

Brian and his mom ended-up going to game one of the American League Division Series in Boston.

Kerri McKinnon said that the teacher, Jude Shannon, laughed hysterically after reading the note. She says that she was trying to cheer up the Ms. Shannon, who was about to have knee surgery.

Despite Red Sox fandom, Kerri does take her son's education very seriously. She's on the school committee.
