SINCE ITS CLEAR MONDAY NIGHT, CATCH A METEOR SHOWER

The nights may be a bit chilly these days, but don't let that stop you from taking advantage of a clear sky and a waxing crescent moon to catch another meteor shower. The Draconid meteor shower will peak on Monday night, but Tuesday night might be just as good of a show. Watch for them first thing at nightfall. The thin waxing crescent moon won't interfere with this year's Draconid meteors. In fact, the moon sets in the southwestern sky around nightfall, serving as a wonderful prelude to the Draconid meteor show.

Radiant point of Draconid meteor shower, in the Head of the constellation Draco the Dragon, near the Dragon's Eyes: the stars Rastaban and Eltanin. The radiant for the Draconids is highest up at nightfall in early October.

The best time to see these shooting stars is not at the crack of dawn, but instead right at nightfall. So you won't have to get up early or stay up late, depending on how you look at it.

To get the best view, look southwest to see the waning crescent moon between the planets Venus and Saturn.

This meteor shower has a reputation of only producing a few streaks of entertainment or a surprisingly spectacular display. Good luck and enjoy.
